Clearing the Cache #6
Clearing the CacheBooks, hardware, games, articles, videos, and interesting links I've collected recently.

Books
From Strength to Strength
I'm still slowly reading From Strength to Strength by Arthur C. Brooks. I'm in a reading slump lately, mainly because I've picked up a new game (see below). I have been updating my previous post with some more notes from the book.
Hardware
Lofree Flow84 Keyboard
I picked up a Lofree Flow84 keyboard. I love this thing so far. It's low profile, easy to type on, and sounds great while I type without being too loud. It's a nice mix between a full mechanical keyboard and something like the Apple Magic Keyboard. I wrote more about it here.
Games
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
I picked up Clair Obsur: Expedition 33, an epic turn-based RPG game, this week. I usually don't play games like this, as I get bored and never stick out the countless hours of gameplay required to finish the game, but for some reason, I made an exception.
The story is the first thing that caught my attention. Every year, The Paintress marks a number on a distant tower, counting down from 100. When the number flips, any person of that age is dusted, Thanos style. So, every year, an expedition is sent to try to reach the tower and stop it from happening again. However, as I get into the game, things are not as they seem.
The gameplay is excellent. While it's turn-based, it has an interesting parrying and dodging system that requires you to be engaged with the action. And, each character has their own play style, keeping it interesting.
Music
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
The soundtrack for Clair Obscur is pretty amazing. I found myself stopping during the game just to listen to the music. I eventually found the soundtrack and have it queued up to play in the background while I'm working.
Videos
How to document your life with your camera (and WHY!)
An inspiring video that talks about why and how to document your life with your camera. As someone who's always been interested in photography (but still never takes pictures), I found it inspiring enough to dig out my big camera.
Why everyone is quitting social media
Matt discusses why people are slowly quitting social media due to burnout and the desire to reclaim time and control in their lives. It's like watching a short documentary.

Internet Phone Book
I saw this while reading one of Manu's posts. I don't have a copy yet, but it appears to be full of creative essays and links, each with a unique number that you can use to quickly load up the real deal in your browser.
Hungry Boy Hot Sauces
My daughter and some of her friends bought some of these hot sauces and thought they were great. Each sauce has an interesting name, like Gut Grenade and The Butt Bubbler.
The Personal Retreat Planner
Created by Mike Schmitz, the Personal Retreat Planner is a simple analog notebook that walks you through creating quarterly goals, weekly intentions, and daily time blocking. I'm pretty consistent with my own daily time blocking; in fact, that is one of the reasons I ordered my own copy. Where I fall short is the quarterly and weekly planning. I hope to dedicate some time to this.
