Bright as Blasphemy
Bright as Blasphemy is the tenth studio album by the American rock band Chevelle, released on August 15, 2025, through Alchemy Recordings. It marks the band’s first album since 2021’s NIRATIAS and their first release following their departure from Epic Records. It is the band’s shortest album in length and tracks and the only Chevelle record solely produced by Pete Loeffler.
I've been enjoying Chevelle's latest album, Bright as Blasphemy. It's not my favorite Chevelle album, but it has a few great songs.
- 1. Pale Horse: Heavy and all over the place. I need to listen to it more to make up my mind. I like it overall, but it's still sticking in my memory.
- 2. Rabbit Hole (Cowards, Pt. 1): The first single. Pretty good. Signature Chevelle.
- 3. Jim Jones: One of my favorites on the album. A great riff and vocals are all over, with signature screams and a few odd vocals mixed in.
- 4. Hallucinations: One of Chevelle's spooky, slower songs. It's a good song. It doesn't quite live up to its potential in the end.
- Wolves (Love & Light): Heavy. Reminds me of Metallica.
- Karma Goddess: I need to listen to this one more, also to form an opinion.
- Blood out in the Fields: Another slower track. Not a big fan.
- AI Phobias: Probably my favorite on the album. Modern, heavy riff, with a catchy melody.
- Shocked at the end of the world: Another one I need to listen to more. Another heavy song.
Overall, the themes of the album range from conspiracies to cult leaders to the end of the world. As with all Chevelle songs, I need to read the lyrics to try to make any sense of it.
