Braves vs. Reds at Bristol Motor Speedway

A brief recap of our weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway, where we watched the Atlanta Braves defeat the Cincinnati Reds after rain delays.

The family and I went to Bristol, TN, to watch the first-ever MLB game at the Bristol Motor Speedway, where the Atlanta Braves faced (and beat) the Cincinnati Reds.

If I were to sum up the trip in one word, I think it would be "Exhausting".

We drove up to Briston on Friday and stayed outside of town in a nice place surrounded by farmland. A nice change of pace after leaving a stadium with a record-breaking 90 thousand people.

We arrived Saturday afternoon, a few hours before game time.

Right on schedule, Tim McGraw took the stage and performed for about an hour. Then Pit Bull made an expected visit, but performed only part of one song. The boys were very disappointed, as they were hoping for an actual performance, but instead got barely a glimpse.

The opening ceremonies started right on time. Introductions, first pitch, etc. All without a hitch. Finally, Michael Waltrip, Darrel Waltrip's brother, came out and said, "Boogity, boogity, boogity. Let's play baseball, boys!".

Then, as if right on queue, the sky opened and the rain fell.

We spent the next two hours either sitting, standing, or waiting in line for food, all in the rain. We never ended up getting any food because the lines barely moved, and the concessions couldn't keep up.

The game was eventually rescheduled for Sunday. So, we started our trek back to the car, along with thousands of other people, and yes, still in the rain.

We eventually got on the road and away from traffic around 1am, when we ran across a Taco Bell, which was fortunately open until 2am.

Fortunately, we were able to make the rescheduled game on Sunday, and, while a bit cloudy, the rain held back.

Sunday was great. The weather was pleasant, and the Braves won the game!
